Caviar

The idea behind CAVIAR is to offer you an alternative to pearl jewellery that will be as iconic and meaningful.

I have revisited the classic and timeless sophistication of pearls in a new, fresh and modern way that is easy to wear yet has bags of style.

Each piece from the CAVIAR range is made using recycled precious metals that I carefully collect whenever I make a piece of jewellery.

This can be dust from filing, off-cuts, leftovers, sample pieces that haven’t quite worked out etc. These are by-products if you want of the jewellery making process.

I am very conscious to be working with scarce natural resources that shouldn’t be wasted but instead respected. Hence the birth of CAVIAR.

Each precious metal scrap is collected separately to avoid cross contamination. That way each metal keeps its purity.

I then melt down a quantity of the chosen metal to create tactile silver pearls that I have called ‘caviar pearls’ as the molten metal naturally gather to form beautiful gleaming spheres. Gravity and the speed of cooling give the spheres a slightly flattened back. Their surface is sometimes called ‘skin’. It is a beautiful image as each pearl has a slight texture, like little soft wrinkles testament to the pearl’s formation.

I do not use a mould when melting the metal. I only use the natural properties of the metal and the heat of the torch to shape those delicious candies. That way each little pearl is totally unique.
