Silver Wave Brooch
This striking Silver Wave Brooch is part of the Rebellion collection. It is truly one of a kind.
Originally inspired by the spring coil shape.
The Rebellion collection offers a fresh interpretation. It retains the striped ribbed tactile texture and gentle round curves of the spring coil, and condenses these features into a new refined and graphic form.
Here I have hand-formed a sizeable silver coil that I have then hand-sawn in halves to create a convex / concave wave shape.
The result is very sculptural, with a great sense of movement and drama. The light plays and bounces against the ridges and the curves, enhancing the volume of the whole piece.
For the brooch lovers of course, men or women! It has had a strong comeback these past few years as a great investment piece to inject style and personality to an otherwise plain outfit.
The brooch as a piece of jewellery is a particular favourite of creatives. It is like a miniature sculpture as much as an adornment. It allows for more unique designs and its scale, larger than most other jewellery pieces, create instant visual impact.
Here the brooch cleverly combines nautical with urban for a resolutely modern and strong look which will suit men and women alike.
How to wear it
This is where you can go a little bit off piste here. Women would traditionally tend to wear brooches on the left side of their collar.
However the size and style of this brooch allow you to experiment. Why not try wearing it on the waistband for a very Art Deco look, and layer long necklaces. Or even on the cuff of your top, almost like a bangle.
Your Wave brooch is sure to get you noticed in any setting!
Because of its weight, I would recommend wearing it on a reasonably thick fabric so that it holds beautifully.
